Relief Society Broadcast

I have an awesome opportunity to sing at the General Relief Society Broadcast this year.  It was a lot of work to be prepared to sing.  We had to memorize the notes and word for 4 songs.  I was sure that I would never be able to accomplish this but I had a lot of help from above.
During the conference it was amazing to be able to look out and see all the wonderful sisters in attendance.  The spirit was so strong there.  I am so grateful that I was able to participate in this experience.  Sister Beck the general Relief Society President told us that they had to pick from #10 Songs.  Songs that the whole world would know and love to hear from the conference.
She gave a marvelous talk about families.  She is a wonderful lady that really had a strong testimony.  I was listening to Sister Thompson talk about visiting teaching.  She really made me understand that we are not visiting teaching for the numbers but to know our sisters, their needs and their families.  She talked about visiting a sister that had a daughter that had very brittle bones and couldn't stand up.  She was 6 years old and was pretty unmovable.  As Sister Thompson arrived the little girls yelled for her to come and she what she had learned to do.  She could roll to her side.  She and the little girls mother cheered and cried at the same time.  I want to have this kind of relationship with my sisters.
President Monson was really great to listen to.  I was able to see the TelePrompTer and noticed that it wasn't moving but he was giving us a great lesson in caring for others.  He then talked about not judging others.  He told a story about a women that keep telling her husband that their neighbor didn't know how to do laundry because it was still dirty as she hung it out to dry.  Then one morning she got up and said to her husband look she finally learned how to do laundry.  I wonder how she did that.  The husband said I can tell you.  I got up early this morning and washed the windows.  What a great analogy about not judging others.  Maybe we are the one with the problem not them.  He also told us that we couldn't love others if we were judging them.  I left that meeting with a new resolve to try and be better about not judging.  I love the prophet and I love being in the conference center with him.
I have always felt a different spirit when I am in the conference center but sitting in the choir seats and being able to sing to the sisters of the world really gave a new understanding of what sharing our testimony is all about.  I felt the spirit so strongly there.  During the closing prayer the spirit was so strong that I couldn't control my tears.  I know that Heavenly Father loves me and is very mindful of me and my needs.  I was able to get tickets for Stephanie and Amanda to attend.  I was really glad that they were able to go.
When we got done I was able to go get ice cream with Stephanie and Amanda.  It was really great to spend time with my girls.
I then got to come home and love my sweet grand baby Savannah.
\At the conference center.

Our chorister, Sister Jolley.  This lady is such a wonderful woman and is very spiritual.  I really am glad that I got to meet her.

The sister that went from our ward.  Katie Adams, Dianna Rice, Me, Shirley Stevenson, Shawna Lockwood on the back.  Diane Taylor, Kim Beck, Fia Johnson, and Teri Davenport.  I love these ladies and the opportunity we had to be a part of this wonderful choir.

  2. Thats awesome, my mom really enjoyed the experience as well. I couldnt go, I was on call and my phone rings randomly and I have to answer it to provide oxygen and other life sustaining drugs to people in emergency situations. I love my job, but sometimes, its not fun to miss out. My little sister and sister in law went to watch my mom and got to the meeting and they all had a great time, and my dad and I played with the grandkids while I manned the phone also.
